Press Release
Lochen & Chase, P.C. Announces new Certified Public Accountant
Tunkhannock, PA -- August 28, 2009 -- Lochen &
Chase, P.C., a public accounting firm with offices located in Tunkhannock
and Nicholson, announced today that staff accountant, Melinda Shannon, has
successfully passed all parts of the Certified Public Accountant exam and
will be licensed in the state of Pennsylvania as a Certified Public
Accountant (CPA). Mrs. Shannon graduated in 2006 from Keystone College with
a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and in 2009 from Marywood
University with a Masters in Business Administration. She has over 5 years
of accounting experience as a staff accountant at Lochen & Chase in the
Tunkhannock office.
Melinda’s areas of expertise specifically
include taxes and audits of construction and manufacturing organizations on
both an individual company and consolidated basis, elder law issues, working
with Pennsylvania Department of Revenue and Internal Revenue Service to find
and obtain tax credits such as the Educational Improvement Tax Credit and
audits of local governments.
Certified Public Accountants represent a high
level of expertise and respectability in the field of accounting. CPAs must
meet specific course study and work experience requirements to take the
exam. The exam itself consists of four areas of competence: Auditing &
attestation, Business concepts, Regulation, and Financial Accounting &
Reporting. In addition, CPAs must continue to meet additional ongoing
education requirements to maintain licensure.
“We’re excited that Melinda’s hard work and
training has paid off and that we can expand on the services we will now be
able to offer our clients with this certification,” said Gordon Chase, CPA
and owner.
Mrs. Shannon currently resides with her
husband, Bruce and two sons, Daniel and Christopher, in Tunkhannock
Township.
